Artwork Description

Linocut Print on paper

Signed and numbered on the front.

This is a linocut print of a Black Cockatoo with Banksias.

Working with line, texture and tone. Printmaking is a very methodical way of working, as it takes many hours to design and then hand carve the woodblock prior to printing. The printing of the lino block is another art in itself, each print is unique and has a certain character.

My influences include the Australian printmakers: Margret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan and the Japanese printmaker: Un'ichi Hiratsuka and the Sōsaku-hanga woodblock print movement ("creative prints") from the 20thC.

Paper: Cotton Rag Paper 250 gsm

These prints are hand-carved and printed, so there will be slight variations with each print.

Oils based ink.
