Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

A favourite pastime of mine is walking the hills around my home town, and foraging for mushrooms and other plants.

On one of my excursions I found a lovely plant with red berries and dark green leaves, which was the inspiration for this painting.

This plant, I have found out is called Cotoneaster and it is native to south-western China.

Cotoneaster is a garden escapee, and is considered a noxious weed as it forms dense thickets under trees in urban bushland and along roadsides,. shading out local native species.

Attractive it might be, but not very popular.
