MAY BLUEBELL explores connections between memory, nature and place using collage, photography, illustration and various mixed media techniques. Born in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, she creates abstractions of the imagined landscapes of childhood. Her focus shifts seamlessly from micro to macro. Using vivid colour she illuminates the microcosm of tiny things - such as plants and reflections. She captures the geographic scale of changing landscapes, both physically and emotionally, using layers of texture. Her work reveals a sense of stillness and calm through tangible chaos.
MAY BLUEBELL is a visual Artist living in Perth. Her practice is based mainly in abstraction. She has been involved in various group shows, solo exhibitions and commissioned works. Focussing on screen-printing and graphic design as a student, her work becomes a contemporary expression of traditional printmaking.
