My studio looks like a battle ground and out of this I create order. Only when I am completely satisfied with the colour‚ composition and the resolution of my ideas do I feel that the painting is finished. “If it works as a painting I know I have put my life and soul into it.” The battle is not only with the materials‚ it is with myself as well. However despite my explosive working method‚ ultimately I am searching for peace and quiet. I am conscious of the balance between the destructive and the creative and importance of destroying something in order to create something better. I do not always rely on preparatory drawings but work totally in response to the paint. “I like the painting to do it\'s own thing\"
and see\'s the drawing and painting “as two completely different disciplines”.
