Souvenir de Mortefontaine
by Jean Baptiste Camille Carot.
I’m fascinated with this prolific French Artist, who painted this back in 1850.
A tree partially blocks the view and behind, the pond stretches away into a bluish infinity merging with the sky. The gradually emerging atmosphere of spellbinding melancholy is created with a restricted palette in which the pale blues of the sky and water harmonise with the browns and greens of the vegetation. The morning light effects have vanished.
Trying to capture atmosphere and movement by studying his beautiful and memorable work.

A beautiful intricate birds nest amongst leaves and flowers and the two little birds who created it.A sultry dark sky broods over a windswept beach with some flowers .......Under a picturesque sky, there is an old fence and secret gate leading to a hidden pond.A small red roofed cottage is tucked away on a meadow covered hill under a beautiful sky.
