Artwork Description

Mixed Media on paper

Signed certificate of authenticity.

This piece is part of a small series of works created in 2020 titled 'penitusque terram' meaning deep within land. This work was inspired by the surrounding quite bushland and creek of my local coastal area where I find solace in wandering, swimming, collecting natural objects and contemplating the silence of nature.

This piece is titled 'altus' which is Latin for deep down. The title reflects the aware experience I encountered whilst sitting in the beautiful Australian coastal and bush landscape, where I am privileged to live.

I've used a combination of acrylics for the background mono print and plant dyed paper for the collage. This layer is then floated on vintage paper by hand stitched knots using plant dyed cotton thread.

The work aims to encourage reflection and awareness of our connection to nature.

As you can see from the images, I am suggesting this piece could form part of a diptych with another complementary artwork which you can view here:

FRAMING AVAILABLE WITH BLUETHUMB
This work on paper is listed unframed, however please let me know if you would like a quote for framing with Bluethumb. I feel this piece would look beautiful in the simplicity of a white or natural light timber frame.

Thank you for taking the time to view my art.
