Artwork Description

Mixed Media on paper

Signed certificate of authenticity.

This Fallen from Nature series of abstract drawings and paintings began with my fascination for the sculptural skyline of dead trees, and the beauty they offer to the contemplative eye. This was cemented by my nine year residence on a rural property in the Byron Bay hinterland, where a dead Camphor Laurel dominated my line of sight. This skeleton was a point of daily meditative reflection.

The beauty and simplicity of the monotone palette, along with the minimalist presence of the work, creates a natural harmony and ease.

Using mixed media of charcoal, graphite, and thin washes of acrylic on Canson 290gsm paper (61x86cms) the work aims to encourage reflection and awareness of the beauty of Nature in its natural form of decay.
