My work has been highly influenced by the world of commercial art and graphic design. This translates to my art in many ways. My still life paintings are careful composition full of allegories, which capture a moment in time where all represented items are meaningful beyond the composition.
This painting was a finalist in the Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award, in 2020.
"Peter, Jack & the Redheads" is one in a series of still life paintings that feature a piece of origami, and other everyday objects that pay homage to the nostalgic memories of life.
I love Jazz music. Whisky and cigarettes make me think of Jazz. Smoking used to be fashionable, but isn't anymore as we all know the health risks. I used to smoke, but I haven't had a cigarette in almost 15 years. However, I still look back on my smoking life with nostalgic memories. I don't want to smoke anymore, just like I don't want sherbet, or hubba bubba, or to climb on the monkey bars... but I remember those times with fond memories.
