Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed with a certificate of authenticity.

An imaginative realism, surrealism oil painting, featuring a black swan, rabbit and spotted pardalote bird and fruit bowl. A play on the iconic ‘The Strawberry Thief’ fabric by William Morris from the late 1800’s and reimagined after I witnessed a cheeky swan steal strawberries from a romantic picnic recently in Perth. The rabbit, also a naughty creature as illustrated so often by Beatrix Potter, with the quill pen a symbol for the era these artists worked in.
Quality paints and materials used to ensure longevity on this large striking piece by gallery represented Perth artist, Mia Laing.
