A scene from around 1960, showing Mr Watson's Cottages, Napoleon St, Battery Point, Hobart, Tasmania. Inspired by photography held in the Tasmanian Archives and Heritage Office.
This painting had a difficult birth. It started with a blue sky and ended with a rainbow and storm clouds. As it was drying on a window sill at one point, it fell face down on to the carpet. I nearly trashed it, but yet it spoke to me seeking another chance. There remains a bit of dust/debris embedded in its surface. It has organic character.
This A4-sized Postcard sketch is painted with oils on card adhered to 5mm foam board. Although it would look best framed with a generous slip/mat, it could easily be mounted as is to the wall using Blu-Tack.
