I grew up in South-east Queensland, surrounded by the lush natural subtropical landscapes which mould the Great Dividing Range, its lush valleys and pristine beaches. I spent my time fascinated with natural places and wildlife as a child and still do to this day. Brisbane my closest city was at the time a melting pot for street art. ‘Big city’ trips spurred my creativity in the late 90’s. I went onto studying Creative Arts and Animation in Brisbane at the South Bank Institute of TAFE. I was surrounded by very inspiring and a diverse group of artist and that was it, I was hooked on creating. I’m completely inspired by natural places, the diverse landscapes and wildlife it supports. Living in big cities you often feel surrounded by concrete and glass, trains, cars and noises that are not quite natural, far from pristine environments that I find so empowering. I’m inspired to create images through the use of colours that evoke calmness and serenity of natural places and I try to incorporate the abrupt division between these natural places and the ever expanding urban jungles. There is something intriguing I find in high density cities too, the architecture which illustrates the ages; its’ brickwork, laneways and colours and the urban parks supporting intriguing biodiversity providing an interesting contrast to observe and try to depict in my works. The images I create are developed organically and I am curious what the final image will look like. My preferred mediums to use are acrylics, oils, charcoals and ink applied in various ways to portray the journey I illustrate to the viewer. I enjoy painting large street art murals in public and private spaces and have done so across Australia, Europe, North & South America.

Collaborating with artists>> from around the world we will be creating unique and limited edition>> products while introducing new and aspiring artists.>> K-A-N's vision for implementing this concept was to open the eyes of the>> skateboard enthusiast, and to give new up and coming artists a chance to>> exhibit their art on a medium of their choice and in turn taking>> skateboarding to a new and creative level.>> >> K-A-N's goal is to give alternate, authentic exposure to each individual>> artist in their own right.>> >> It is not K-A-N' S philosophy to change or reformat the pieces that are>> submitted, but rather to transfer the artists vision directly through to>> you. This is the only way to get a true feeling of what the artist is>> expressing.>> >> Our signature artist to kick K-A-N off is Michael Wendt, the creator of our>> first series of boards. His "Flower Mouth", "TV Stack" and "Rubber Bullet>> Nipple" are direct from Michael's sketch pad straight to you.>> >> Michael is a Gold Coast student who we sat down with and collaborated each>> of our concepts, we came up with three sketches that we felt showcased his>> talent, while keeping the final product as raw and true to his own>> interpretation as possible.
