Banksias are blooming everywhere at the moment in my area.
With over 60 species uniquely found in South Western Australia that means they come in all shapes, sizes and colours.
This work shows three clustered in a row basking in the mid afternoon sunlight. They are nearly at the end of their bloom so are fluffy and golden. Looking very surreal in the heat of the sun as they twinkled and sparkled in the intense light.
I am always in awe of the banksias and the beautiful organic patterns that are created on the flower as it blooms through several stages. Sometimes it is just the pleasing pattern at the top of the cone like these three. Alternately the whole flower is covered in an amazing pattern that is so geometrically perfect it is hard to believe it is created in nature by a tiny little seed.
I am so inspired by the banksias at the moment that I am on a banksia blitz trying to capture all their different characters and personalities. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do creating them.
The piece will come to you in a black box frame with a perspex pane and a white matt board as pictured.
The interior shots are styled for inspiration and may not be to perfect scale.
Stay tuned for the Banksias to follow!
