Inspired by my Pilbara Residency I have created a new direction in my work.
This piece is the second of a series inspired by the flotsam and jetsam found on the Burrup Peninsula after cyclonic winds and rain had blown in off the north west coast of WA.
The beach was littered with the most amazing collection of natures treasure. All laid out bare and twinkling in the fading twilight. Incredible to see that some were still completely intact despite the wind and rain and others looked as ancient as the land.
I wanted to capture the beautiful and intense colours of the moment when the big red Pilbara landscape meets the coast. I also wanted to capture the textures and patterns that were scattered along the coastline as far as the eye could see.
I spent the afternoon mesmerised wandering along this beach and wanted to showcase the treasure in this series. Hoping to focus on the different moments of the changing sunlight on the edge of this isolated part of the coast.
It is a large piece of archival paper that is almost as thick as a canvas and will stand the test of time. I have used archival inks and mixed media to capture the metallic sparkling textures and patterns.
It will come to you unframed so that you can take advantage of the Bluethumb Framing service to create the framed look that suits you best.
The interior shots might not be exact scale but are there to provide inspiration.
I hope you enjoy this new inspiration and direction as much as I did creating it.
I will be forever changed and inspired by my time in the Pilbara and its big red landscape.
So grateful to have experienced all the sights, plants and colours that will intermittently inspire my work for years to come.
