Low Cloud is an abstract work, done on paper as one of a set of 4 small paintings. The paintings were prepared over a dark ground and using wet on wet technique they were produced quite quickly in series. They are influenced by the sea - and give the viewer a high point of vision (from up in the sky). The colours are ones that I love to use and include turquoise, prussian blue, napthol crimson red, white and lime green. Once the painting was complete, it was named for the lighter patch near the horizon, which reminded me of Low Cloud.
I was reminded of flying in a small air plane, over Bass Strait. You could look down over the wide expanse of deep blue water and almost touch it.
The painting is small 10 x 10 cm and is mounted and framed in a 25 x 25 raw oak frame, ready to hang. Signed on the front lower right hand corner and titled, with artist full name, date and medium on the back.
