My painting practice is to raise awareness about the South Australian environmental issues of our critically endangered native flora. Human destruction and introduced plants are the main reasons why our native flora is endangered. Without human intervention and protection, wild flowers will continue to encroach our critically endangered native flora, which will inevitably lead to extinction to our unique and endemic flora. Using oil paint as my main form of medium I communicate a visceral illustration throughout my painting by expressing sound, touch, emotion and sight. Abstracting these elements using texture and patterns, I then combine realistic features to communicate an ominous feel throughout my paintings.
