This is a portrait of dancer, aerialist and choreographer Tammy Zarb. I met Tammy few years ago when I took up aerial silks classes at her school. Tammy is an exuberant personality with a true passion for her art. She is simply intoxicating to watch when in motion.
My aim was to portray Tammy not only as a dancer and aerial artist, but also as a person. Reflecting her personal creativity and artistic diversity, the painting can be viewed either vertically, where Tammy is suspended in the air, or horizontally, where she is calmly gazing toward her outstretched hands. I wanted to emphasise her focus on her art, regardless of what chaos surrounds her.
