This mixed media piece on plywood explores my ongoing interest in deliberately using a limited material and colour palette - the idea of working within parameters. The organic shapes echo the recurring 'vine' motif in my work, shapes which for me speak of travel and journeys along a path - hence 'Wayfinder'. The black striped background is a one-off screen print, with white acrylic ink and graphite drawing on top. The graphite is particularly beautiful in different lights as it can reflect as charcoal or almost silver depending on the direction of the light source.
The work is is reinforced with a stand-off wooden frame on the back so that the plywood will not warp, and to give the work a shadow-line when hung on a wall. Please let me know if you would like additional photos of this.
