Artwork Description
Acrylic Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Contemporary portrait of a cockatoo. My painting was inspired by Byzantine and Japanese art and also influenced by Gustav Klimt, an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement, and his artworks of the “Golden Phase.
An Australian Sulphur-Crested cockatoo is one of my favourite birds. I love cockatoos for they are funny, cheeky and as smart as us - people. It's believed that cockatoos in the wild can live up to 40 years. But who knew that they could live to 100? No wonder they are that smart! Fred, a sulphur-crested cockatoo, celebrated his 100th birthday in October, 2014 at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary outside Hobart with a letter from The Queen!
Medium
