Ornella Imber is a professional artist who has been living and working on the East coast of Tasmania in Beaumaris for the past 20 years. As an artist she aims to create beautiful pieces that evoke a sense of peace and harmony. Ornella's use of colour, pattern and texture help to create paintings of exotic beauty. With painterly exuberance she produces images that will certainly brighten any area.
She gains much inspiration from this idyllic part of the world in which she lives.
Ornella had a colourful childhood growing up in the sunny suburbs of Brisbane. A definite highlight of her childhood was an action packed adventurous family holiday to Europe for nine months. Throughout this trip she was exposed to a number of art forms from different cultures and eras. This holiday to Europe and encouragement from her father inspired Ornella to paint. Ornella's passion for art led her to learn more at universities in Qld and NSW where she chose painting as her major. After two years of study she found herself becoming restless and had the desire to travel once more.
The next adventure in Ornella's journey led her to Tasmania's beautiful East Coast to marry and start a family. Ornella has two sons which she considers her works in progress and her most precious pieces. Ornella's talented husband built her an impressive home studio over looking the ocean. Some of Ornella's other joys in life include getting lost in the journey of a good book, walking her dog on the beach and being in the ocean, if she's not in the studio painting she can be found in the refreshing waters off the East Coast surfing with her family. She believes that Tasmania's ever changing weather and seasons helps to keep life vibrant and exciting.
Ornella's main artistic influences are Gustav Klimt because of his use of pattern, colour, intricate detail and feminine beauty, Frida Kahlo and Van Gogh for their painterly qualities and for the healing that art can bring. Some time ago Ornella was suffering from a negative experience, food intolerances, fatigue and was struggling to manage these challenges. She found that throwing herself into her art helped to relieve some of the suffering and made the journey to becoming well again easier to manage. Ornella is a big believer in the healing power of art.
Ornella is a regular exhibitor of her art pieces. Ornella's paintings are displayed in a number of venues around Tasmania, Zeps (great coffee & excellent food) in Campbell Town and Waubs Bay Gallery in Bicheno. Her paintings have been purchased by many art collectors from both within Australia and overseas.
Ornella considers herself very fortunate to be living in such a beautiful environment and to be doing what she loves. All she ever wanted was to live by the ocean and paint, all the rest she considers as a bonus. To view more of Ornella's work please go to www.zhibit.org/nell73
