Following a painting tour in France I was inspired by my visit to Claude Monet's garden at Giverny. where he had painted his famous waterlily series. It was autumn and instead of waterlilies there were autumn leaves floating on the surface of the ponds. I tried to capture the complexity of the abstract images on the pond's surface using layers of paper, wax and pigments.
Collage, gouache paint, wax encaustic, watercolour pigments on rice paper. Sold framed in silver painted timber box frame. Painting is floated behind clear Plexiglas.
