The beautiful folds in the petals of the Iris are a challenge to paint but oh so lovely to look at! Not an unusual or rare plant but the multitude of different types and colours seems infinitesimal and they are always a welcome addition to any garden. Of course my goal is to create a painting which will bring happy memories of these beautiful flowers even when they are not in bloom, or if there is no garden to enjoy.
