It would hard to find a more colourful and striking bird in Australia than the Rainbow Bee-Eater. A member of the Kingfisher family, they are found all over Australia and nest in river banks, often in groups of 10 or more.
I've always had a fascination with the Kingfisher family of birds, their features are so varied and uniquely Australian. With their love for water we often see them darting in and out of streams blurring the line between air and water.
The background of this work uses watercolour through an airbrush to achieve the photographic 'bokeh" effect to bring the subjects into sharper focus. The white main border area helps to further enhance how the work sits on the wall.
