About Marcelle Mansour

Marcelle Mansour OAM is a Sydney-based Artist, Intellectual, Painter, Light Artist, Fine Art Photographer, Poet, Contributing Bilingual Writer and Journalist for Ethnic Media and Ambassador for Peace who has been professionally practicing visual arts since the early 1980s. Her work spans from the representational art of portraits, murals, sceneries, and various topics, through to abstract arts and contemporary light arts.
Marcelle Mansour is an award-winning artist who has worked as a Freelance Artist, Community Artist, and Light Artist. Marcelle held numerous national and international acclaimed solo and group art exhibitions with famous artists in prestigious venues in Sydney, New York, and Paris. Marcelle was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2017 for her service in Visual and Literary Arts and to the Community. Marcelle's Solo Art Exhibition of Threshold won the USA Year In Review 2013 Competition Group Show’s inclusion at the New York City Gallery Space during Armory Week NYC 2014. She was awarded Ambassador of Peace by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), for participating in United Nations International Year of Light (IYL) Australia 2015. Marcelle's work also won the competition of Louvre Museum, Fifth Annual Exposure Photography Award’s inclusion in the International display at the Louvre Museum in Paris in July 2015, and Manhattan Art Fair for Frieze Art Week, Chelsea, New York City in May 2017.
Marcelle was awarded grants from Australia Council for the Arts and National Association for the Visual Arts. She Won the Prize for Bicentenary An-Nahar Literary Newspaper Competition in 1988 and won the Prize for the International Women’s Day of a Poster Design competition and Arts exhibition on Celebrating Women’s Strength in 1993 and she was also selected the Role Model in 1996, by Universal Woman. Marcelle is also the author of Shifting Waves book 1998.
As a contemporary light artist, Marcelle’s work of light highlights the theme of universal human experiences in a phenomenological manner where she emphasizes the presence of the invisible and the power of light and perception as a body lived experience, exploring light and perception as a vehicle for transformation, Super Consciousness and social change, reflecting a path to self-knowledge to inspire her viewers for advancing humanity and reshaping reality in the world.

Marcelle Mansour’s creative works of visual and literal art have been featured in English and Ethnic media including books, press releases, newspapers, SBS radio, and SBS TV and magazines, including ‘Australian Artist’ magazine, Arts in Action. Marcelle is the author and publisher of Shifting Waves’ book in 1998.


Marcelle is inspired by her roots of Eastern and Western art, along with spiritual and philosophical traditions. Marcelle’s artwork has the feeling of the simplicity and spirituality of Malevich’s Suprematism, and the spiritual iconoclastic works of Kandinsky’s musical inspiration. she is inspired by the works of contemporary light artists Robert Irwin and James Turrell.
