Traditionally considered the first eukaryotic forms of life, there are over 25,000 species of seaweed in the worlds oceans that provide food, shelter, and oxygen for numerous underwater ecosystems and form an important part of the carbon cycle - the processes by which carbon is released, transferred, and stored around the globe & where CO2 is removed from the atmosphere.
