This series of images relates to the equilibrium that surrounds us: between human and nature, nature and the built environment and humans and their own constructions. All of these exist in some sort of balance, ever changing but also it is just a balance, not inherently right or wrong, just equilibrium. The aesthetic of this work takes it from the familiar and places these ideas in a space between negative and positive, in a similar way to the equilibrium between the interacting elements.
This work in particular addresses the difficulties and struggle between humans and their environment. In this case, a wild dog carcass weathered for years on a farm fence. The inversion treatment, toning and surreal nature of the image make this a statement on any place, not a particular place.
