STORY OF THE ARTWORK
.
A composite image celebrating my favourite bird, my totem and the inspiration for my logo, the Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus). In my opinion, it’s the most awesome raptor in the world, and a world citizen, being cosmopolitan. The Peregrine is a paragon of style, a master of flight, and and has superlative vision. These are good reasons to adopt it as a photographer’s totem species.

This male bird (tiercel) is named ‘Neon’, and is ownded by Mr Paul Mander of Broadwings Australia.

My picture is a composite that includes the following elements: a leaf; a dead tree; dew; galahs (one of the Peregrine’s prey species).

DESCRIPTION OF THIS ARTWORK
.
The image is printed by me on an A4 sheet of heavy, textured art paper (Canson Aquarelle rag 310gsm) on an Epson 3800 inkjet printer with Ultrachrome™ archival inks. The image size is 200x267mm. I further personalise the image by titling and signing it by hand, under the internal keyline border, with a silver gel pen, and embossing it with my falcon logo (35mm diameter and placed under the image in the textured 'mat' incorporated in the artwork itself). In the lower white margin at the edge of the sheet, I write the date it was printed and on what paper. These annotations will not be visible when the image is matted and framed. The package also includes an A4 sheet with some details of the image and its story.
.
I also include a Certificate of Authenticity (150x100mm) certifying that I created, and personally titled, signed, and embossed the artwork, The certificate includes space for the purchaser's name.
.
I ship the art as a matted print (black mat and foamcore backing board) inside a clear cellophane, re-sealable bag. It will fit the common frame size of 11x14" giving the buyer the option of purchasing a low-cost frame from a chain store or having it professionally framed to suit their own decor. NOTE: The image above is the full artwork. It does not include a representation of the 11x14" mat board.

DISCLOSURE
.
The price of this artwork reflects the fact that it is, effectively, a personalised open edition. I don't believe in the idea of 'limited edition' photographic prints because I feel that it is pretentious to do so when one is not a famous photographer. Neither did some of photography's greatest masters produce limited editions (e.g. Ansel Adams, Edward Weston). I prefer my work to be affordable and enjoyed by purchasers for what it is, a personally crafted and hand-embellished piece of art. I don't believe that inflating the price by the contrivance of a limited edition serves my art.
