Artwork Description

Reproduction Print on paper

Signed and numbered on the front.

By using themes from the 1950's, such as the utopian nuclear family or based on his own 'Enid Blyton'-esque children, Bryans manipulates and appropriates their references to create dream worlds and yesteryear reality, to reveal 'bedtime stories'. Aiming to capture the fleeting moments that we remember, imperfect and incomplete, but which we treasure and make us who we are.
Edition of 5. Hand signed and numbered by the artist. The edition is hand-printed, produced on 350gsm Magnani Incisioni paper with a deckled edge. Since each print is hand-made minute variations may be apparent from print to print.
Certificate of Authenticity included with print.
Image that shows artwork in a frame is for scale purposes only. Print sold NOT framed. The print, when posted, will be carefully wrapped (in protective paper and bubble wrap) before being rolled into a postal tube, this is then placed within another postal tube for extra protection.

All art by P. James Bryans

P. James Bryans creates mixed media prints, digital paintings, and screenprinted artworks. By using popular ephemera and retrospective themes, Bryans manipulates and appropriates fragments of time from the ‘utopian nuclear family’ era, the days of wonderment and daydreams (with the innocence of Enid Blyton).
In creating these images Bryans touches on various overlapping themes, creating a narrative that can be easily recognized (and remembered) by the viewer.
His works feature coincidental, accidental, and unexpected connections, which make it possible to relive and complement history. Bryans uses a visual vocabulary that addresses many different social issues that have long been forgotten. The work incorporates time as well as space; a fictional and experiential universe that only emerges through the viewer’s own eyes.P.
