Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Soft pinks and pale blues and grey mingle and blend and are interjected with striking turquoise, deep purple and gleaming metallic gold. The gold flashes and shines in the light. On this abstract background is a monochrome suggestion of a nude female figure.
In making this self portrait I was able to step outside myself and view my body as the subject. In doing this I was able to view myself with gratitude and appreciation, without the harsh self criticism and feelings of falling short that usually occur. By treating myself as I would any other subject, who may be a dear friend or even a stranger, I was able to feel kindness towards myself and see the beauty left there, even after the changes that come with having three children and getting older.
