Artwork Description

Oil on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed certificate of authenticity.

This landscape was painted during Lockdown August 2021. The gestural mark making was a cathartic act- painting in this manner enabled figurative elements to take effect. The figurative element of the rat appeared as it was observed lying motionless on the path, during the daily ‘Lockdown’ walk. It seemed fitting to paint the rat ’ as a symbol for an ending- the end of Winter, the beginning of Spring whilst reflecting the changes during Lockdown.
