Artwork Description

Oil on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed certificate of authenticity.

My self portraits tend to vary in style, approach and message. My aim is to not capture a photographic representation of myself but aspects of myself, both mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This can be captured by the physicality of the paint itself, or by blending the paint. There is often a push and pull with myself between both styles. We are multi-faceted human beings, who are transient in our lives, not one moment is static. I seek to paint self portraiture to project my views on global issues, reflections on society at large and delving into my own psyche. With this portrait it is another comment on climate change. I find myself anticipating the inevitable whilst trying to remain optimistic. Again I find there is a push and pull between the two almost akin to a fragmented reality hence the fragmentation of the face.
