I just love watching the antics of the bird life from my back patio. They all have unique personalities. They get by each day doing the best they can with what they have around them. Some in groups some just going about it alone. This time of year we have many groups with new editions, tending to there nests and the screaming chirps. The weather seems to have also brought in the galahs, corellas and cockatoo's. The inspiration for 'Cockatoo Conversations'.
It is one of the larger in a series of textured animal compositions. This piece was another exploration in texture and layering, capturing the collective essence of these creatures. I wanted to capture a collective of these beautiful noisy birds.
I like to develop the subject using palette knife, layers and washes of oils. This builds up creating an almost sculptured subject. This piece is a large, impacting statement for any space. Comes varnished and ready to hang.
