Artwork Description

Pastel on paper

Signed on the back.

This still life, inspired by an advertisement in a grocery catalog, was a study in the medium of pastel. The precarious arrangement of the cone and fruit as well as the potential health risks of consuming too little or too much fruit lead me to consider what a health pyramid for an emerging artist might look like. Practicing balance and well-being as an creative can be an art in itself.

Combining unrelated imagery into intriguing compositions with renewed meaning. A woman with brown hair and big blue eyes with a contemplative facial expression. A goldfish swims across her face casting a shadow over her face. This artwork invites the beholder to contemplate the complexity of human, and artistic, expression and observe their interpretations of emotion and symbolic associations. With that in mind, it’s also meant to serve as a light-hearted, joyful image that brings the viewer joy when they catch a glimpse of it in their home.Resting Fish Face [limited edition giclée fine art print on Tesuki-Washi]

It’s painted with oil paint. The background is painted flat while the goldfish pops out with textured brushstrokes. It is landscape orientation. The sides are 4 cm deep and are painted dusty pink.

Original artwork by Rebecca Hepworth.A still life painting of my philodendron “pink princess” plant with green and pink leaves sitting in a pink bucket. It is mixed media as it is painted in oil paint on top of pastel on primed paper which has then been mounted on a circular wooden board - ready to hang with a wire across the back.
