According to bush lore, Black cockatoos mean there's rain coming. They also symbolise new beginnings and creativity.

I love working in limited colours, and for this moody painting I have selected a combination of pared back tones including ultramarine blue, grey and black and used the paint in varying consistency, from random watery washes to the definite and purposeful opaque white line detail on the cockatoo's plumage.
