Layered oil painting featuring a Native Blue face Honey Eater in a semi abstract Bush scene.
My work is very much connected to the place I live and features the backyard birds and plants common in my inner city neighbourhood. My intention is to capture the positive energy you feel when you encounter nature, especially in an urban setting.
My process begins with rough plant sketches recorded outdoors which are re used back in the studio and become more abstracted over time. These paintings sit somewhere in-between representation and abstraction as I slip in and out of conscious awareness while I paint. I never really know where the work is going to end up. Sometimes I arrive there quite quickly, other times a painting may take many weeks and incarnations to reveal itself.
Framed in a beautiful Raw Australian Oak box frame. Ready to hang and enjoy!
Image #5 shows this work paired with another painting the same size and framing of a Silver Eye and Lillypilly, also for sale on Bluethumb. They work well hung as a pair.
