This painting is inspired by my local river, The Cook's River located in Sydney's Inner West. I'm having a bit of a fling with Egrets at the moment. I become obsessed with one particular bird species every so often. Bin Chickens and Lyrebirds are other favourites of mine.
I am loving the delicate white plumage of these guys, and I have been using differing opacities of paint to incorporate background layers into my latest paintings. This work is more expressive and in the spirit of a sketch than some of my earlier works and I am enjoying pushing myself into this direction to see where it leads.
The work itself is a diptych; two panels of paper that were painted side by side as the one painting. Each piece of thick paper measures 56cm x 76cm, so the overall size of the work when hung side by side is 112cm x 76cm. Requires framing. Please get in touch for a quote if you'd prefer the work framed.
