Artwork Description

Every few weeks I stock up on Native Flowers for my studio to paint/sketch. I like drawing from life with watercolour paint, straight onto the paper (no pencil guidelines). I like the excitement of working this way, one bad brush stroke and it's all over and I have to start again.

This technique requires confident, quick mark making with the brush strokes to create the energy and sense of urgency required for capturing something as fleeting as fresh flowers.

This drawing features Banksia, Some leaves I pinched from a walk in the Blue Mountains last week, Leucadendron and gum leaves in varying colours (some correct, some just what I fancied dipping my brush into).
