Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
This painting features a little native Spotted Pardalote perched on some Cadaga. I am colour obsessed and will often use my artist's license to exaggerate or completely lie about the colours before me, as is the case with these ultramarine Cadaga leaves. My colours are mixed and used intuitively once the painting is in progress.
My work is very much connected to the place I live and features the backyard birds and plants common in my inner city neighbourhood. Our nature is found amongst the street art, peeping through factory buildings and growing defiantly and disorderly out of the concrete.
My works on paper draw their inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock printing (Ukiyo - e) and Sumi - e techniques. I enjoy working with Chinese calligraphy brushes, predominantly using expressive line to create my images.
All my works on paper are unframed for safe and easy shipping unless specified.
