I've been painting lots of Aussie birds recently β this pair of Magpies in varying hues of black and grey/blue are perched on the branches of a Frangipani Tree that grows in my yard. This work features intricate white line work and decoration on the plumage, leaves and tree branch, (please check out the close up photos) and the pared back palette of soft blues and greys is sublime. It is painted onto Saunders Waterford cream textured watercolour paper and features deckled edges all around which look nice as a feature when framed, or can be hidden behind a mount if preferred.
