Gorgeous sunny yellow wattle in a cobalt blue and deep blue/black modernist fat lava vase. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of painting these 2 dimensional still life Aussie flowers in mid century vases at the moment. Our plants are so unique and their shapes are instantly recognisable even when rendered without correct colour, form or shadow. The same goes for the vases of that era, their distinct shapes and patterns make them a real joy to paint and it's like they were designed for our scrubby native plants to live in.
