Grandma's Secret Garden' is a part of the Wildflowers and Feathers series of paintings. Grandma's Secret Garden is a charming garden that many could relate a fond childhood memory. Visiting Grandparents as a young child and exploring another world; a garden of enchanted magic, a world of imaginary childhood games and feathered friends that often visited.
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory ~ Dr. Seuss
Living in Western Australia as a young child I have fond memories of visiting Perth's iconic Kings Park Botanical Gardens, the playground and the natural bush. A magical place for all ages to enjoy. Inspired by the beauty of Kings Park I discovered they have a plant development program . The Team have successfully developed four new Grevillea's, one of which I have painted named Tangerine Dream. The newly released plants look spectacular, more hardy and a percentage of the profits is returned to Kings Park. What a great way to support Kings Park.
The cheeky Willie Wagtail are commonly found in Australia and spend most of their time chasing insects. Their name is derived from its habit of wagging its tail horizontally when foraging on the ground. The Scarlet Honeyeater is native to Australia and the smallest. The male has stunning red and black wings whilst the female is brown. The Scarlet Honeyeaters are very vocal and often heard high above the forest before they are seen.
