'Rugged Paradise' is a painting of a beautiful location situated in The Great Keppel Islands. Rugged Paradise has been created to compliment the series The Rejected Tourist Bucket List. Exploring The Great Keppel Islands by foot or boat allows you the true beauty to see; the rugged rock, white sandy dunes and the turquoise crystal clear water. A memory that will last a lifetime. I wanted to capture the sense of perspective of the rugged contrast of the rock amongst the tranquil waters and share its raw beauty.
The Rejected Tourist Bucket List is an ironic take on a tourist attraction that has been destroyed by the elements. The Middle Islands Underwater Observatory is nestled within the Great Keppel Islands group. It was closed in 2008. It was once a significant, local tourist attraction. This ‘must see’ bucket list attraction is now battered and abandoned. Rugged Paradise was inspired on a tour exploring the rugged and beautiful coastline of Great Keppel Island.
