In Japan Koi fish are symbolic of good fortune and luck as well as abundance and perseverance. In Buddhism Koi are said to represent courage.

This painting draws the viewer in. While this is a small watercolour, with the total page size just under A4, the impact is massive. Everyone who views this painting is drawn to it. I'm not sure whether they can sense the luck of the fish or whether it's the Zenlike serene composition.

The colours are rich and intense.
