Artwork Description

Shells, gathered on a walk along the shaley beach, are placed on a white table alongside a folded silk scarf. But not just any scarf, it's one entitled 'PerAstra Ad Astra', which I designed for Hermès, Paris, as an homage to the ill-fated expedition of the French navigator, Monsieur de la Perouse in the Pacific. A colour-way of lavender, magenta, yellow, turquoise, grey & burnt sienna reflects the native hibiscus flowers in a blue vase & the rolling open ocean beyond.
