I had been thinking about the increasing lack of privacy and space for those living in high density areas and how this has forced some people to retreat inside their homes. This painting started with a very clear profile of the main person and a whole mob of less distinct faces all crowded together. As I developed the faces, it was clear that their attention was on the person in profile, so I added the window to give the painting some context.
