These flowers were unknowingly plucked by my 3 year old, from a memorial garden dedicated to the families of Australian soldiers.
Being from a military family I know too well the plight of those supporting people in the services, and how both the best and worst of humanity comes to the fore. On one side you have the noble ideals of sacrifice, selflessness, comradeship, community & bravery. On the other you have the brutal reality of war & conflict; death, suffering, anguish, isolation. I think the Rose is a fitting flower to embody these ideals. A beautiful bloom, with sharp thorns. You can’t have one without the other. Midnight references the deep blues of this work, and the garden of good and evil, for where these roses were found.
This work is supplied framed in a beautiful raw Tasmanian oak Float frame. Please note the frame is not removable.
