Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

This artwork was inspired by the great performances and skill of women in so many areas of life that have historically been ignored. From the art world, where the Archibald prize has been won by a woman only 13 times in its 100 year history, to every other area of life.
The idea behind the painting was that even women who are high achievers, who stand out (represented by the pink hair in this painting), can have their achievements ignored or erased from history. Whilst this is improving, it is still an ongoing problem. To go back to my earlier example, only 6 women have won the Archibald Prize in the past 20 years. Whilst this shows that improvements have been made, it also shows there is still work to be done.
This artwork was created using quality acrylic paints on a cotton canvas. The background colour is between a slightly greenish blue. There was some variation in the way it photographed. I believe the photograph showing the sides of the painting is the closest to the actual colour.
