Artwork Description

Mixed Media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed certificate of authenticity.

The bright multi-red coloured artwork is symbolic of the various red colours found in red ochre used to paint the body of both men and women for celebrations and dances. Circles and lines depicted in the work are reflective of body designs used. Red body paint could also be achieved by using a yellowish earth which was dampened, mold up into balls and then burnt in the fire, in which it changes into a brilliant red, it was then mixed with the kidney fat from kangaroo’s to create a usable consistency.
