Oil Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
One beautiful Spring afternoon in Melbourne, I captured this wonderful vista of the canola fields, lush vivid green paddocks and the elegant, unobtrusive Lewis Bandt Bridge over the Moorabool River, close to the southern end of the Geelong Ring Road. I couldn’t wait to paint the vibrant shapes, and also to satisfy my curiosity at the same time. Turns out the Lewis Bandt Bridge was opened in December 2008 in honour of the Ford Australia engineer Lewis Bandt who is credited as the inventor of the coupé utility, in Geelong. Isn’t that something! The lovely scene called out for an abstract impressionist approach using bold oil colours and a heavy duty, solidly built canvas, with just enough detail and texture to tell the story. It is painted around the sides so no need to frame unless desired.
