This painting is part of a series of works exploring the stages and changes in the life of a woman. It will be exhibited during 2021 in my Metamorphoses exhibition. The painting explores the fragility of the ego (and the body) as one ages. It raises questions about what is right, what is acceptable...how is a woman to be in the world as she ages. What is the Right Way Up? Is she still allowed to pose, naked, like this?
This artwork will be exhibited in May/Jun 2021 (exhibition having been delayed by the covid19 pandemic). If you are interested in it you may message me about it before that time.
The frame is by Mulbury Gallery and is from beautiful reclaimed hard wood. It is naturally varied and imperfect and in this sense talks to the painting.
Acrylic, pastel and mixed media on cardboard box, based on plywood, framed in reclaimed hard wood
