Artwork Description

This artwork is a study of life and death and its intersection. A scrap of sheet music from Chopin's Funeral March lends its title to the piece. The central composition, a man - or woman, the face is androgynous. The heavy lids and drawn expression suggest that death has crept in silently, unexpectedly. As it so often does. The intention of this piece is to remind us that we should not be so surprised by death. We should embrace every day, and those we love. None of us knows when the Funeral March will be ours.
